App stores and console platforms take 15 to 30% of every transaction. Neon was built to route around those gatekeepers entirely: independent payment infrastructure that keeps revenue in developers’ hands. We built the brand from the ground up.
Problem Channeling genuine counter-culture energy without looking like a protest brand, and without alienating developers who need to operate credibly as businesses. The identity had to signal which side Neon is on without making it look like Neon couldn't be taken seriously.
Solution A brand identity channeling the spirit of early indie game development, the era when developers bypassed publishers and went directly to players. The Brand Identity’s Editor’s Edit featured it at launch. $14M raised since.

IDENTITY Neon puts payments back in the hands of developers circumventing big corporate gatekeepers. Pulling from the rouge spirit of early video game development, our identity references the history of gaming creating a unique symbol, palette and type styling showing players and developers joining together.

lost in revenue each year to app and console store “fees.” Neon aims to put more money in developers’ pockets.

LAUNCH To launch the platform we created various marketing pieces showcasing the developers, gamers and games that Neon helps power.

Neon is independent payment infrastructure for game developers, built to route around the fees and gatekeeping of app store and console platform distribution. Company Policy built the complete Neon brand: naming, strategy, visual identity, and website, channeling the counter-culture spirit of early indie game development into a contemporary visual language.
The identity was featured in Brand Identity‘s Editor’s Edit at launch. Neon has since raised $14M toward becoming the ‘Shopify for gaming,’ with backing from Thrive Capital, a16z Speedrun, Max Levchin’s SciFi VC, and Ribbit Capital.
